A single nucleotide substitution in 3' untranslated region of ERBB4 transcripts can alter the binding affinity of miR-3144-3p. An A to G substitution (which is U to C in mRNA) can break a normally-present hydrogen bond between ERBB4 mRNA 3' untranslated region and the seed region of miR-3144-3p. This alteration increases the binding reaction ΔG from −25.50 (stable reaction) to 0 (unstable reaction)
